This years conference will focus on the 2011 National History Day Theme, Diplomacy and Dialogue. Join us and learn fascinating history content from our presenters as well as practical classroom applications from teachers around the state.

Please note we have changed the format for this years conference. Both the conference and the teacher resource fair will be held on the same day. Conference attendees will have time during the conference to visit a variety of vendors, non-profit organizations, and history education providers.

BCHE supports quality history education and encourages communication between those who teach history in the schools and those who promote history in the community and academia. Local History Teacher Award Winner Announced
The Buckeye Council for History Education, in association with the Ohio Council for the Social Studies and the Ohio Historical Society, is pleased to announce that Angel King is the first recipient of the BCHE/OCSS Local History Teacher Award. This award recognizes the importance of state and local history education in the lives of students and communities.
Angel has done outstanding work in the teaching of local and state history. She has gained the respect of her peers in the Sciotoville Community School for her ability to engage her students in the history of their town, their state, and their country. Angels commitment to learning and teaching is evident in her active participation in professional development activities. Angel is currently participating in her fourth year of the Think History Teaching American History project. In addition, she is a Civil War Preservation Trust member, a Belfer Scholar, and past participant in the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College and a Gilder-Lehrman Summer Institute. |
